Remembering who you really are

Let's experience who you really are for a moment.

Find a quiet place. As quiet as possible. Do it now. It doesn't have to be silent, but that is preferable.

Sit comfortably. Consciously relax your muscles. Become aware of any areas of tension, and let them go.

Now become aware of any noises in the room. Observe them, and let them go.

Now. Watch your thoughts. It may help to imagine that you are sitting next to a river, that your thoughts are like debris floating on the surface. Resist the temptation to float with the debris, and just gently return to the experience of you, watching your thoughts.

Even if the thought "I am watching my thoughts" comes along... let it go.

Notice just how many crazy thoughts there are buzzing around in your head. That's ok. Just watch them. Resist the urge to want to "pack in this stupid process because what's the point anyway?" That's a thought. Watch it.

And there you are.

As I write this now, I am aware of who I really am. I can sense light, awareness and peace. But no thought.

If you don't sense it, and feel frustrated then, be patient. Try it for ten minutes a day. One minute a day! With practise, you will have a clear experience of who you are. It will be undeniable. Its beyond feeling, its beyond thought. Its like light breaking through clouds.

Its important to enter stillness with no agenda, and no expectation.

Its in creative stillness that you find your true home.
